Real Madrid dictates its law in the Erling Haaland case

The other crazy dream of Florentino Pérez. For a little over a year now, the president of Casa Blanca has been working behind the scenes and in public to create a European Super League. He obviously dreams of seeing his Real Madrid there, if possible with Kylian Mbappé and Erling Braut Haaland. It’s no longer a secret, the residents of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium are working hard to recruit the two stars this summer 2022. And they have a good chance of succeeding!

Real Madrid still dream of the Norwegian

Indeed, the Frenchman is coming to the end of his contract in Paris, where we are doing everything to keep him. If KM7 has not yet decided, at least officially, it could be tempted by the Madrid project. A club where he always dreamed of playing like Haaland. The latter will leave Borussia Dortmund this summer for sure. But to go where? FC Barcelona are interested, but the club will not make any “reckless maneuver” as vice-president Rafael Yuste recalled this weekend. So that leaves Manchester City and Real Madrid.

The two leaders made more or less similar offers, namely a long-term contract with a huge salary. For the English, we are talking about an amount of 30 M€ per season. On the Spanish side, we are talking about 40 M€ and a total operation of 350 M€. But according to SportReal Madrid are hesitant to put so much money into it now.

The Merengues do not intend to splurge

This, for several reasons. First of all because the priority is and remains Kylian Mbappé. Even if the Frenchman comes free in Madrid, he will have to be offered a big signing bonus as well as a significant salary. Then, the people of Madrid believe that there are too many additional costs to pay for the Norwegian. Like the other contenders, the club from the Spanish capital will have to lift the clause of €75 million to be paid to BVB before April 30. So far, nothing out of the ordinary. But it is the result that poses a problem for Real Madrid.

Indeed, it would be necessary to pay a commission of 40 M€ to Mino Raiola, the player’s agent, and another of 30 M€ to Alf-Inge Haaland, the father of the star striker. Sport speaks of a total operation of 215 M€, without counting the salary. Which is too much in the eyes of Florentino Pérez’s club, which is trying to lower these amounts. If ever the various parties fail to agree, Manchester City will have free rein to make their financial power speak and afford Haaland. Florentino Pérez does not hope to get there, he who wants to realize his dream…but not at any price!
