ASUS announced that all server product lines support the latest 3rd Gen AMD EPYC™ processors with AMD 3D V-Cache technology. In this way, it is aimed to accelerate important technical computing workloads and pave the way for innovations in data centers. ASUS also placed first in the SPEC CPU® 2017 and SPECjbb® 2015 tests on the SPEC.org website.
Leveraging the processing performance of 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors with AMD 3D V-Cache technology, ASUS scored the highest in 14 of SPEC CPU 2017’s 16 key benchmarks. The ASUS RS720A-E11 server, which uses two of the AMD EPYC 7773X processors, the top model in this series, broke the world record by scoring 745 points in the SPECrate®2017_fp_base test. Equipped with an AMD EPYC 7773X processor, the RS520A-E11 server also broke the SPECrate®2017_fp_base record with 347 points. ASUS also placed three firsts in SPECjbb 2015 (Composite/MultiJVM) Java server performance tests with the RS700A-E11-RS12U server with two 7773X processors.

Free BIOS update brings compatibility to the entire ASUS server portfolio
ASUS provides dual-socket RS720A and RS700A, and single-socket RS520A and RS500A series to support the 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processor series. These processors, which have TDP options of 240 W to 280 W and the number of cores ranging from 16 to 64, have at least 768 MB of L3 cache.
ASUS GPU servers such as the ESC8000A and ESC4000A series, which support four to eight dual-slot AMD Instinct™ accelerators, Xilinx FPGA accelerator cards, and NVIDIA GPUs, also support these new processors. Thus, these models can be optimized for artificial intelligence, deep learning and HPC workloads. All models take full advantage of the latest 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors with AMD 3D V-Cache technology in a single BIOS update. This ensures enhanced and consistent performance as well as compatibility with the latest AMD platforms.
High-performance processors for technical computing
AMD EPYC 7003 Series processors with AMD 3D V-Cache technology triple the amount of L3 cache compared to EPYC 7003 series models without 3D stacking, offering a capacity of 768 MB per socket. This feature enables faster results for targeted workloads such as EDA, CFD and FEA software and solutions. In addition, the new series is also compatible with sockets on existing AMD EPYC 7003 platforms.
The latest EPYC 7003 Series processors with low latency and AMD 3D V-Cache technology, which increases the amount of L3 cache closer to the core than main memory, have the same shared memory architecture as the rest of the 3rd Gen EPYC family. This allows customers to take advantage of up to 96MB of L3 cache per CCD without sacrificing performance, even on mid-range processors with a small number of cores.
